NEW! Shear Magnet School
In 2025-2026, The School Garden Doctor will support middle school career exploration related to outdoor science while also offering support for their garden elective class.
NEW! Environmental Education Coalition of Napa COunty
Known most widely for their annual Earth Day celebration, EECNC is exploring how to sustain their role in the community with facilitation and guidance from The School Garden Doctor.
Pueblo Vista Magnet School
Since working full-time at Pueblo Vista (“PV”) in 2015, The School Garden Doctor continues to work in a contract relationship with them. Each grade level receives three days support designing their environmental science and dual language immersion curriculum.
CANV Kids
As part of their Outdoor Classroom creation, The School Garden Doctor planted an all-native butterfly garden.
Previous Contracts + Outcomes
About 80% of our annual revenue is generated through contracted services in Strategic Planning + Organizational Leadership. The remaining 20% comes from grants and donors.
Napa RCD (2019-2025)

The School Garden Doctor began working with Napa RCD in 2019, when they were competing for a National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) B-WET Grant. After evaluating the Salmon-to-Sanctuary program through the pandemic years, we have maintained a strong partnership and now collaborate on their school programs.
Farms to Grow, Inc. (2020-2024)

The School Garden Doctor became a partner to this Oakland-based organization in 2020. We offered volunteer grant writing to secure a California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Grant. This effort reached dozens of farmers to enhance yield and competitiveness of specialty crops.
Bird School Project (2021-2023)

The School Garden Doctor supported implementation and evaluation of the Outdoor Science Initiative, a Heller Foundation and NOAA-funded collaborative with the Santa Cruz-based organization in partnership with the Salinas Unified School District in Monterey County.
Napa County Office of Education (2019-2021)

The first USDA Farm-to-School Grant in Napa county was awarded to Napa County Office of Education in 2019. As a collaborator, The School Garden Doctor prepared COOL School staff to plant gardens and deliver garden-enhanced nutrition education (GENE). Watch the “Bite-Sized Video Series.”

Bay Friendly Garden Month
In 2021, Carrie recorded a live Zoom and Facebook Workshop on Gardening with Kids as part of Napa RCD’s Bay Friendly Garden Month.
Pandemic Birding
In 2020, Carrie contributed clips to Curiosity Kids a video project produced by American Canyon Community Parks Foundation. This four-part series teaches how make DIY binoculars, find a quiet birdwatching sit spot, identify birds, and attract birds to your backyard or school garden.
